NZ Riding for the Disabled

Made for Volunteer Wellington's first Community Film Challenge, which pairs local filmmakers with a charity and gives them a little over a week to make a film for them. Finn O'Connor of Couch Kumara and I were matched with New Zealand Riding for the Disabled (NZRDA), who wanted something polished and professional, closer to a considered case study than a rough community video.

We shot everything in one day on location at Battle Hill and edited the next, delivering two films. Behind Every Ride follows the coaches and volunteers who get the horses ready and make each session possible. Livvy's Story focuses on the impact, told through young rider Livvy and what therapeutic riding gives her in focus, confidence and development.

Alongside the two films we delivered social cut-downs, a behind-the-scenes piece, and full graded rolls of the interviews and b-roll for NZRDA to use in future. The films premiered at the Embassy Theatre and won Runner Up: Judges' Choice.
